Veronica “Ronnie” Solomon
Dispatcher
The Dispatchers and the Captain
Duran, who served more than 35 years with FAO, said Bill Gustin was an integral part of her training journey. He contributed
ideas for the 昀椀re service course offered by the Association of
Public Safety Communications Of昀椀cials. His collaboration is acknowledged in the APCO manual.
I had also shared with him on one particular day that I was attending a dispatcher conference in Daytona Beach. A few days
31
later, I found an article in my e-mail detailing how changes in
dispatch, past and present, are affecting response times. He believed that the information would be helpful.
He was not sel昀椀sh when it came down to imparting wisdom.
The loss of Captain Gustin has left a void in our hearts and on
our dispatch 昀氀oor. To the FAO, Bill Gustin will always be forever
young, forever wise, forever gifted, and forever giving.
