Camp Tequesta

Meet Carrol Ann
After the Blizzard of 1978 in Detroit, Michigan, I
was convinced that I needed to move to a warmer
climate. It was my cousins, Don & Mary Lou that
asked me to come down to Boca Raton, Florida for
my holiday. I moved down two months later.
time went on, I started to create and process the
applications for Camp Tequesta, our camp for
burn survivor children. Surprisingly, I was voted
the City of Boca Raton FL Employee of the Year
and even got my own parking spot!
Well, it’s 2026 and I’m still humble,
volunteering with the most amazing
unsel昀椀sh friends that love doing what
is best for the children. We strive to make
the Children’s Burn Foundation of Florida, Inc.
better every day.
In 1979, I was hired as a dispatcher at Boca Raton Fire Rescue! Man, I was excited! (This became my favorite job EVER!) Then in 1986, I was
promoted to the payroll goddess position (昀椀nally
my circadian rhythm is in order!) In 1989, I married Mike, my Prince Charming, (who had a bonus
child, Jennifer). Thereafter, we had two more children, Erik & Conor.

In 1991, I was invited to volunteer for
the Children’s Burn Foundation of Florida, Inc. I began as a buddy and moved into the
Boca Raton Regional Coordinator position. As

To volunteer for the 34th Annual Camp Tequesta for burn survivor children, an announcement will be

for camp are Thursday, November 5, 2026 to Sunday, November 8, 2026. Our camp is held at the Florida
Elks Youth Camp, 24175 SE Highway 450, Umatilla, Florida 32784. Our theme is “Dragons.” Donations:
Unfortunately, at this time our donations have dropped significantly & our expenses have risen
