On September 20, 2025, I had the honor
and privilege of attending the IAFF Fallen
Fire昀椀ghters Memorial in Colorado Springs.
When I was asked to be the family liaison for my brother,
Fire昀椀ghter James Green III, I accepted without hesitation. not
only the 昀椀re service but in life, for James Green III, there was no
hesitation in my response. It was privilege to be able to honor
a man who was my brother, both in the 昀椀re service and in life. It
was genuinely humbling standing by the family’s side from the
days leading up to the memorial and during the ceremony where
we also paid tribute to Lieutenant Alex Acosta, Fire昀椀ghter James
Hall, and Fire昀椀ghter Patrice Jarrell. It was genuinely humbling
being by the family’s side from the days leading up to and during
the memorial.

the hundreds of families embracing one another as the searched
for their loved ones’ names on the walls.
This is an event that everyone in the 昀椀re service should attend
at least once in their lifetime to honor the fallen, even if their
department hasn’t suffered a loss. I am extremely grateful to
Local 1403 and the Green family for this opportunity.
Jimmy Green and all the other fallen
heroes will forever be in our hearts.
The loss of a 昀椀re昀椀ghter is tough for a 昀椀re department, but even
more devastating to the family. Sharing stories and engaging in
conversation; just being there for them, and letting them know
how much their loved one meant to us offers some relief.
We were overwhelmed by the incredible hospitality from Local
5and every volunteer involved. From the moment we arrived,
they anticipated our needs before we could express them, caring
for our families with sincerity and compassion. The brotherhood
